And something new to add ....

Question : - What does it mean if you agree with a evil or bad person thinking or plans in a movie I've always wondered this like in many movies I've just agreed with what they were saying does this make me crazy or is this normal plz tell me? [Original question asked in Qoura Digest. Answered by me.]

My Answer : Actually No.

I happened to agree with Thanos (from Avenger movies) how overpopulation is a problem (especially here in this World).

I'm not a big fan of super hero movies. To me, it is a very impractical type of movie. Don't get me wrong. It is entertaining Yes, but from practical perspective, it is not so much that I could search the Internet looking for any bit of information about the next big super hero movie coming along. Matter a fact, I don't really remember going to the theater to watch any super hero movies, ever.

The main reason why I said that super hero movies are not practical is that, often than not, they don't really portray the proper picture about situation. They portray a villain with some excuse (or as the question asked - an evil person) and then they portray a super hero who willing to sacrifice him or herself to save the day and champion for the greater good. Hooray! Yoohaa! Everyone claps and jumps around when the hero emerged victorious and the villain laid dead or defeated on the ground. Unfortunately, that crap only works in the movies and with some eight-years old. The thing I don't like much about super hero movies is that they never show you any practical solutions to a problem.

Imagine this scenario :- Thanos comes along, looks at the 6.5 BILLION people already on this Planet, understood that in another decade, another billion could be added. He knows that the Planet does not support that many humans.

Take a look at this statics :

In 2017, 71% of the global population (5.3 billion people) used a safely managed drinking-water service – that is, one located on premises, available when needed, and free from contamination.

90% of the global population (6.8 billion people) used at least a basic service. A basic service is an improved drinking-water source within a round trip of 30 minutes to collect water.

785 million people lack even a basic drinking-water service, including 144 million people who are dependent on surface water.

Globally, at least 2 billion people use a drinking water source contaminated with feces.

Contaminated water can transmit diseases such diarrhea, cholera, dysentery, typhoid, and polio. Contaminated drinking water is estimated to cause 485 000 diarrhea deaths each year.

By 2025, half of the world’s population will be living in water-stressed areas.

In least developed countries, 22% of health care facilities have no water service, 21% no sanitation service, and 22% no waste management service.

This are not some numbers pulled out of my arse. These statistics comes from WHO itself (Source : https://www.who.int/news-room/fact-sheets/detail/drinking-water).

Here's another qoute : 1 in 3 people globally do not have access to safe drinking water – UNICEF, WHO

New report on inequalities in access to water, sanitation and hygiene also reveals more than half of the world does not have access to safe sanitation services. - 18 June 2019 News release New York, Geneva

What people do not seems to understand is that this situation (with the water) is a ticking time bomb. It is only matter of time before a dangerous disease, like the Black Plague, were to reappear (mostly in 3rd World countries at first) and then spread across the World. As COVID-19 had proven, humans are incapable of managing stressful situation or a medical emergency effectively.

In Super hero movies, often than not, it is the villain who usually have some sort of "solution" for problems like mentioned above and heroes will come and save the day. But often than not, the problem which is the underline problem in the plot is not highlighted properly nor does a solution is suggested to the audience. While this is not true in all the movies, it is true for most movies which came out of Hollywood in the past couple of decades.

In case of Thanos in the Avenger movies, one could ask - "What is the alternative solution to Thanos' proposal of killing half of the life in the Universe?"

Never mind the Universe, I could ask anyone - "what do you think we should do if you do not agree with such measures as population control?"

Often than not, I do not believe that anyone willing to impart any solutions, not because they do not have solutions but because the solution itself is too distasteful (or in more accurate description - unpopular) solutions such as forced population control, segregation of members of society (between poor, ultra-poor and those who have knowledge and necessary skill set to survive) and even taking over the whole global resources (water, power generation and food production) and establish a controlled distribution of resources. All these solutions are unpopular to some which is why people attend not to offer any solutions, even so the problem stare at them everyday.

"The Hardest Choices requires the Strongest Will" - in that context, people today know what choice they have yet they do not have the will to make them, fearing that they could be labelled monsters, villains, social outcast. That is why many of us, secretly applaud the villains who make these choice, live with their choice and stand firm with resolve.
